Don’t Let COVID-19 Get You Down
Planning a wedding can be stressful. Planning a wedding during an International pandemic can make you want to pull your hair out. That’s right– I said it…and I get it, I really do. My own wedding day is in June and I can fully relate. Before you have full meltdown take a deep breathe and pause for a moment. While COVID-19 was probably not part of your wedding day plans, try to believe me when I say it’s going to be ok.
Easier said than done, I know.
If you find yourself needing to postpone your wedding day: Talk to your vendors as soon as possible. Chances are they have several couples contacting them about rescheduling which means availability will be limited. Your wedding vendors want to work with you to make sure your wedding day is truly perfect. I advise you reach out to all of your vendors and ask for a list of dates they are available for during a defined timespan. Don’t forget to consider Sunday and Friday wedding options. With so many couples stuck in the same situation as you, considering alternative days of the week may help open up availability with a few of your vendors.
Communication is key not only with your vendors but also with your guests. Next, let your guests know right away that you are postponing. Chances are several of them are traveling from out of town and taking off work to attend. Let them know what’s up even if you do not have your postponement plans totally nailed down just yet.
Just got engaged and afraid to start planning?: Your fears are valid. To be honest we do not know when we will finally flatten the COVID-19 curve. But that shouldn’t cause you to put your entire wedding day on hold. While I can not speak for all wedding vendors, I myself am reassuring all of my couples that should the pandemic affect their wedding day plans they can 100% reschedule with me free of charge. Your health and safety is important and should be put first. With that said if you find wedding planning now to be a bit too stressful don’t be afraid to take a break from it and focus on your wellbeing.
The pandemic may be adding a bit of stress to your already stressful wedding planning tasks, but at the end of the day we are all in this together. If your plans get pushed back a few months that just means you get to enjoy being engaged that many more months before marrying your best friend for the rest of your life. There’s nothing more wonderful than that.
