LOST GULCH- BOULDER, COLORADO
Every once in awhile it’s good to step back and take a break. You know, just get away from it all and escape the distractions of life. For me, an escape from the ordinary always leaves me feeling refreshed and full of creativity.
I spent the last week adventuring in Colorado. There for a wedding, I also had a few sessions booked for the week throughout the state. This was my first visit to the state and it will not be my last. We flew into Denver, hiked in Boulder, and explored in Colorado Springs. Every inch of this state was beautiful. I still can’t get enough of the mountains. Don’t get me wrong, I love a Midwest wedding, but the scenery and landscape in Colorado provided gorgeous settings that can’t be beat.
While adventuring I met Shelby and Thomas at Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder, Colorado for a session at Lost Gulch Overlook. Man oh man—If you’ve never visited Lost Gulch go put it on your bucket list right now. Seriously. Do it. Shelby is a photographer in Colorado. She and her husband Thomas love the outdoors and the mountains. We met at sunset and were greeted by an incoming storm. The stormy gray skies accented the landscape creating dramatic vibes of romance. Our session together was quick but powerful. As we counted the time/miles between lightening strikes to ensure our own safety, I captured these electric shots below.
If you ask me, stormy skies never looked so good. Lost Gulch Overlook was one for the books. I can’t wait to return and schedule another session soon. Needless to say, my trip to Colorado did not disappoint one bit.
