Why a First Look Rocks

First Looks Rock: To have or Not to Have?

I have confessed my love for an intimate first look several times. Want to know why? Because they are truly AWESOME and truly rock.

However, I understand that they are not for everyone. Some brides love traditions, and that is ok. If you are on the fence, let me just say that it can be a great way to connect intimately with one another on your wedding day. During the day you will be surrounded by family and friends ready to celebrate your love. After all, that’s how it should be. A first look is a moment of the day that you can have truly to yourself. You can take a moment and let the day really sink in.

A first look is all about reaction. Many brides worry that if they have a first look their groom will not have the same reaction when they walk down the aisle. Truth? 8 times out of 10 the groom is still in tears when he sees his soul mate walking down the aisle for the first time. With a first look you will receive MORE portraits of the two of you…and after all those are what you will want to cherish for years to come.

Literally 1/2 of my couples who decided to do a first look said their grooms were not as nervous during the ceremony. It calmed their nerves and allowed both the bride and groom to fully enjoy the ceremony together.

When is the best time to have a first look? If you will be exchanging letters I recommend having a first look right after the letter reading. If you opt for no letter exchange, then a first look is ideal right after the bride finishes getting ready.
